WHEN THE DESIGNER DAVID TAVCAR, FIRST VISITED THE MARIA STRANSKY PETIT POINT MANUFACTORY, FOUNDED IN 1932, HE WAS BOWLED OVER BY THE HANDICRAFT SKILLS OF THE EMBROIDERERS THERE. TRUE TO TRADITION, CLASSIC MOTIFS AND IMAGES ARE PRODUCED FROM A PALETTE OF MORE THAN 800 COLOR TONES WITH UP TO 2.500 STITCHES PER SQUARE INCH-THEY ARE THEREFORE VERY EASY TO DISTINGUISH FROM MACHINE-MADE PRODUCTS. IN HIS PASSIONSWEGE PROJECT, TAVCAR TAKES HIS INSPIRATION FROM THE TRANSFORMATIONS BETWEEN ''ZOOM-IN'' AND ''ZOOM-OUT'', ALSO FROM THE ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY ANALOGUE PRODUCTION PROCESSES OF EMBROIDERY MANUFACTURE-SOMETHING THAT SIGNIFIES GREAT QUALITY FOR THE DESIGNER, A HANDICRAFT ENTHUSIAST. IN HIS MICROSCOPIC TREATMENT, TAVCAR TRANSPOSES MARIA STRANSKY'S FLORAL MOTIFS-ROSES, VIOLETS, EDELWEISS-INTO CONTEMPORARY EMBROIDERED MOTIFS, THUS ACCENTUATING THE STRIKING CELL STRUCTURES OF EVERY PETAL: BEAUTIFULLY BURGEONING ACCOMPLISMENTS OF PETIT POINT AND POINTILIST BIONICS.
